Ithihasa Movie Review

Ithihasa- “a tale nobody believes” is a romantic comedy directed by debutant Binu S. Story is by another debutant Aneesh Lee Ashok supported by dialogues from Anil Narayanan. Story revolves around a man and woman who got their bodies and personalities interchanged because of an accident.

Alvi (Shine Tom Chacko) and Vikku (Balu Varghese) are pick pockets in Kochi. They are frequent visitors of the police station. As they continue with their routine life of pick pocketing. The duo come a across a pair of rings related to Ahom dynasty. Well its the royal family of Assam. That is not important but the power of the ring to change interchange the body and person play the central role in the movie.

As they try to sell the ring they realise that its won’t fetch much for the metal or stone on it. Disappointed Vikku throw his ring away which will eventually reach Janaki ( Anushree). Alvi and Janaki go to their own beds wearing the rings.

Next morning each other find themselves in each others body. As Janaki finds herself in a strange Man’s body she had shock of of her life and this modest girl is worried about her body. At the same time Alvi and and Vikku are at first in thick soup with a beautiful woman’s body and Alvi’s personality inside. Yet they find their own solutions. Yet both the parties are searching for each other and this forms the rest of the movie.

Even though heavily inspired by Hollywood the movie will make you laugh. The cast and crew did a wonderful job. The storyline and dialogues were normal as well as the music. As the film comes from a group of Camera friends the Camera work and editing are exceptional, thanks to Sinoj P Ayyappan and Jovin John.

Shine and Anushree did their job well as well as supporting actors including guest appearances. Yet the movie won’t make you curious and there are no surprises kept inside. This is another film which mention Malayali’s complex relationship with north Indians.

Ithihasa won’t surprise you, and most probably won’t disappoint you too.
