Ivan Maryadaraman Movie Review

Ivan Maryda Raman is more of a repetition than a remake. Movie starring Dileep as Ramu and Niki Galrani as Krishnendu is a mere repetition of many movies of the same hero. Ivan Maryada Raman is directed by Suresh Divakar and produced by Anto Joseph. This remake movie scripted by Udayakrishna-Siby K. Thomas draw inspiration from Telugu Movie Maryada Ramanna as well as “Our Hospitality” an American film of early 20th century.

As any movie of this kind IMR also start with an intro story before the titles saying story of an imaginary village somewhere in Kerala. Which used to follow feudal system 30years ago that means 1985 – unbelievable! as well as now – more unrealistic.

Two families fight over the right over a Rama Temple. Which developed into generations of rivalry.
Ramu becomes an orphan as his father was killed by the rival family and his mother also passed away in Pune as they were refugees. Ramu leads a struggle filled life in Pune as he work as a transporter with his bicycle. The speaking bicycle appears funny rather than fun. Finally he set out to his native village in Kerala with a desire to improve his situations.

On the train Ramu meet Krishnendu she is a member of his rival family. Ramu reach her home and realise that his life will be over, the moment he step out of the house. Only thing that saves his life is the vow by the family that blood should not be shed inside the house.

Ramu’s efforts to keep his life and Krishna’s attempts to get her love forms the rest of the movie. And you will see miserable attempts to make you laugh with age old tricks.

Not even a single joke is new. You get the feeling of watching a foolish Telugu film as the adaptation failed miserably.

Dileep would be better off if he stop these funny ventures.

You will definitely be disappointed if you have some common sense and not a Dileep fan. Kids may enjoy the talking bicycle; yet don’t be sure about that too.

Camera, music and editing all are just satisfactory and fail to offer anything new. Just like the story and the actor.
