Nayana Malayala Moview Review

Nayana Malayala Moview Review

Nayana is an attempted art movie on a girl with exceptional skills to draw in spite of colour blindness. Which is written, directed and produced by by K.N. Sasidharan. Lyrics are also from the same person.

Baby Anikha play the role of Nayana a young girl suffering from colour blindness. Where as Miya George and Prakash Bare play the role of her parents Swetha and Jayan. Visuals switch every now and then from colour to black. The dialogues are as expected try to give a feel of daily life but with less success. And the director try to keep the colour blindness as a surprise till interval. The cinematic dance sequence in the movie had nothing to do with storyline.

Many non related social criticisms are also included in the movie. Second half turns out to be a tutorial on colour blindness and advertisement of an eye hospital.

The performance by baby Anikha is a welcome relief. Miya George also did her role well. Anupam Kher play a retired IAS Officer suffering from eye problems too. But without proper storyline and dialogues they can’t save this movie.

In the technical side cinematography by K. G. Jayan is far below normal. Background score is relatively good even though music by Mohan Sithara may disappoint you. Costume design by Shibu has nothing special about it as well the make up by P.N. Mani. Editing will show you too much of close-ups which even fail to catch the wonderful act by Anupam Kher without any purpose.

During this movie, for the first time advertisements by central government was interesting for me.
